Barely know what to say here. I saw one reviewer state that Six of Nine was the worst thing about this show. I think its worse than that. I think she’s the best thing about TTR, and I’m not going beyond her visual appeal here, because there is none. The writing is horrible, its not the least bit funny, and although the animation is quite good,…its just terrible. I can’t imagine that even 13 year olds would go for it. Maybe stupid 13 year olds. I gave it one star because I couldn’t submit my review otherwise, but I don’t really mean it.

This is a weird show that still has yet to show any real depth. But then again I do not think it is supposed to. It is about a group of Aliens in space who endure the tragedies and ups and downs of space life. Gina Gershon is funny as Six, an alien created android. Really weird show has a few good laughs an episode but so far is not enough to hold one’s attention enough to keep the interest. Yet the ratings are still high, and it does a good job being a follow up to the fantastic and hilarious Shannen Doherty show “Scare Tactics” This show is not supposed to be taken seriously but oh well.

This TV series is based on a five-minute-and-48-second-long video that was made just for fun by complete amateurs in their spare time. It’s available in MPEG form on the internet if you know where to look (note: Patricia Beckman, NOT Terry Farrel, did the voice of Six, contrary to what another reviewer claims). I saw this video long before I knew about the TV series, and it was the funniest six minutes of my life. It was random, irreverent, and completely unrestrained. So when I heard that it was being made into a full-blown TV series, I nearly creamed my pants. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The Sci-Fi channel had completely bastardized it. They drastically watered the characters down, turning Six of One into a moral-spouting member of the Upright Citizens’ Brigade and making the formerly ballsy Chode and Gus into complete wusses. They kept their scripts devoid of even bleeped-out profanities and reduced senseless violence to a minimum. Worst of all, though, they relied almost entirely on unfunny sexual jokes, instead of the Invader Zim-like random insanity that made the original so hilarious: “You meant to tell me that with all the crap that’s broken on this ship, you start with the f—ing ICE MACHINE?” “Listen to me, you fat purple dung pile. As ship’s engineer, I decide what gets fixed first, so if you don’t like it, go screw yourself!” I do give this show 3 stars, though, because it does have the occasional genuinely funny moment. Maybe I’m just spoiled from watching shows that are so much better, like South Park and Drawn Together.

This isn’t my normal genre of entertainment, but it is pretty funny stuff. I wouldn’t watch this with children around as the humor is definitely adult oriented.

I can not wait to see this because I just started watching season 2 on scifi on wensdays and now I want to see season 1 and now I can. So if you are into south park and scienfiction comedys you should like this.
