I haven’t had a chance to use this item yet. I am saving for my son. But I know that these sing-alongs are great for kids. I loved them when I was little.

As an ECE (AKA special education)teacher, I look for different ways to get Language Arts to kids. I have the kids “read” the video as I ask them to try to recognize as many “popcorn” (word wall) words as possible. The kids I service are 1st and 2nd graders. The video keeps their attention and gives them some ownership over these words.

It was just as I remembered it! I gave this to my niece for this past Christmas, but the whole family enjoyed it, too.

My two-year old loves this DVD, and actually does sing (and dance) along with it…she’s been singing “You Can Fly” and other songs, and loves to watch the dancers in “Step in Time.” This DVD offers a good variety of music, including the lovely “Beautiful Briny Sea” and the multi-culturally-flavored “I’ve Got No Strings.” The only song I can’t stand, and my daughter isn’t interested in, is “When I See an Elephant Fly.” The use of old southern-U.S. stereotypes and sub-par grammar grates on me, and the song in itself is annoying — when it comes on my daughter tunes out, then rejoins the fun when it’s over. Outside of that, it’s been a hit.
